Solar Energy Facilities Zoning Ordinance Public Hearing

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Chapter 11, 15.2-2204 of the Code of Virginia as amended and the Northumberland County Emergency Ordinance addressing Continuity of Government during the Coronavirus (Covid-19) Pandemic, that the Northumberland Board of Supervisors will hold an in person/telephonic public hearing on March 10, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. in the Northumberland County Courts Building at 220 Judicial Place adjacent to the Sheriff’s Office in Heathsville, VA in order to consider the following:

The revision of the Northumberland County Zoning Ordinance, Chapter 148-155, Solar Energy Facilities to add a two hundred (200) foot setback from any state maintained street right of way. The Planning Commission recommended adding that the 200 foot setback along state maintained roads may be reduced by the Board of Supervisors if the solar company institutes mitigation measures to prevent vehicles from entering the solar energy facility due to a traffic accident.
